On The Day

Your Wedding Day

Before the day I will liaise with your venue to work out the best place for me to work from, or if you'd prefer you can let them or me know your preference. I am happy to work directly with your venue, your planner, or yourselves.

On the day I like to arrive at least 30 minutes before I am due to begin, to make sure I'm ready with time to spare. My normal arrangement is a table where I will sit and paint from. I have found that a 6ft table is fantastic, but have worked at larger and smaller without issue.

I have found that it works best to take photos of guests to work from, to create a 'virtual queue' and avoid a real queue disrupting the day. This also means I can continue to paint through parts of the day such as the ceremony and meal, when guests will be seated elsewhere.

At the start of my painting session, I mingle and explain what I'm doing with the guests, collecting photos to work from. I display completed paintings in front of me on the table, some propped up on mini easels, to create a gallery which I add to throughout the painting session/s. Once the gallery has been started, I find that more guests come to me as they can see clearly what is going on. Word seems to spread quite fast! I also bring an A4 size sign to let the guests know that the happy couple invite them to have an illustration painted.

Each 6"x8" illustration takes between 4-12 minutes, depending on number of guests in the painting. I will always be happy to give advice on painting session length options. Sometimes I am hired for enough time to paint every single guest, which works very well if the paintings are your wedding favours. Other times I am hired for less time, and the painting is seen more as entertainment during the little lulls of the day.

Everyone's wedding day is different, so please don't hesitate to ask how I could best fit into your special day.
